    No 3 plane too small

I kept reading that the No3 was often the favourite smooth plane, I have a No4 but have only recently really started to play with hand tools. I have a relatively large hand, size 8 or 9 gloves, but I find the No 3 doesn't feel right after the No4.

    Maguire Pin Less Leg Vice

I'm in the middle of a bench build. I quite like the idea of the lower metal bar on this vise, instead of a board with holes and a pin or an X link type similar to the Benchcrafetd version. Has anyone seen or used one of these, or have any idea of the construction?

Good description of how a handplane works.

I recently purchased one of Kingshotts books but thought this video an excellent introduction to the handplane and how it works. Better than anything I have read or seen before.

    Steb centres

I'm so new to woodturning that I still don't have a lathe. Even the Record 305 is nearly twice the price in Italy delivered. I was hoping someone could explain the difference between a steb centre and a revolving steb centre? If I understand correctly the revolving steb centre should prevent a...

Record Coronet No 0, any good?

I have a very limited choice in Italy but have come across the above in France. I can't find much information. Could it be a better choice than a new Record DML305-M33?

    Are these any good?

Whilst searching for a small secondhand lathe I came across this pair new at a very good price. I know nothing about turning, are they specialist or might they be useful to someone starting out if the price is right. I appreciate I would have to buy a handle.

Can I do this on a drill press?

I have never done any turning. Apart from anything else, I have never liked sharpening. I'd like to make some small handles, like those in the image. It is probably a couple of inches long. Drilling out the centre will probably be difficult too I imagine. How might I achieve that without a...

    Incannel or outcannel gouge?

I have never carved but I am about to attempt to make myself an infill mitre plane. One of the videos I saw used an incannel gouge to shape the wedge but from what I can see outcannel seems more common. Can someone explain how they differ in their use?
