    Garage Shelves Advice

I'd agree about the costs of buying metal frame shelves, but the quality does vary, I put together several sets recently where the shelf was thin mdf and the weight bearing on a lip of maybe 5mm all round, they'd not hold up well to heavy weight and certainly damp conditions. my own set (can't...

    Garage Shelves Advice

I have similar shelves, only metal frame, which have sat without issue for maybe eight years, but if I had kids I'd want them attatched to the wall as it all resembles a climbing frame

    Hand mitre saw blades

I have to echo ChaiLatte, some links to the blades on the foreign sites would really help to answer your question

    Hand mitre saw blades

i understand that the blade is held under tension, so that somewhat negates the pull function. but I'm now confused by the tooth structure, what are lance teeth if not the teeth on a japanese saw? are they the standard teeth on a mitre saw? aside from my lack of understanding, you could shoot...

    Hand mitre saw blades

I don't claim to be an expert but isn't the defining characteristic of a japanese blade that it is a pull action?

    CA (superglue) not setting

Its not that daft a question, it was gluing back together an indicator cover, as recommended by the renault garage, I did notice that where the glue had run on the inside of the cover it looked clearer than the normal diffusion almost as if the glue had partially melted the plastic, but equally...

    CA (superglue) not setting

lovely work so how do you store your glue? are you chilling / freezing it to extend its life? Also does that activator not effect the look of the glue, I find the 'no nonsense' spray often leaves a slightly chalky finish

    CA (superglue) not setting

I've just tried to fix some plastic parts with a bottle of no nonsense brand superglue, one half of their mitre kit (with the activator), it has been open a while, and the glue kept in the fridge. I glued up, just the glue no activator, left to set for an hour and a half, came back expecting it...

Buying advice - multitool, random orbital sander and router

I have a Dewalt cordless multitool, it is something I tend to use for a few minutes at a time and in multiple location so I find the lack of a cord very helpful the sander is a workshop tool and needs dust extraction so I have a corded model and its fine I have a plunge router and a trim...

    Partially or Fully Threaded Screw?

I had to remove a load of these a couple of weeks ago, they'd been used for a temporary structure and I presume driven in quite aggessivelly with impact drivers, the main effect seemed to be they were a pipper to remove and the head was buried so deep that there were huge splinters around every...

How to drill into a concrete lintel?

respectfully, I don't see how this fits the discussion, about mounting a batten of wood onto masonry, I assume with rawl plugs or similar. that said I think a template for a hole saw is a good idea to stop it skidding around the place, I occasionally use this technique if I want to cut a solid...

    Yandles offers on abrsive discs

I always think about it as the number of grains in a square inch (probably not the case but it serves the purpose), so the more grains the smaller they need to be. so the higher number is the finer the grain.

Best and least messy way to remove surface rust from tools

I'd soak in vinagar for 24 hours, wipe off the residue of rust, rinse in water with a little bicarb of soda (to neutralise the acid), then give a bit of protection with wd40 or similar

Buying cheapest wood for woodwork practice in the UK

I know nothing of the legality of skip diving, I had always thought that it was legally theft unless you had permission, your standpoint seems perfectly reasonable and common sense, unless that is the skip is not being used for rubbish but to store materials when there is no space on site, or...
