    Use of Bees wax.

Beeswax alone isn't very hard so will wear off quickly and scratch easily compared to something like a carnauba wax.

With Blackbushe airshow coming up I wanted to have something that should sell well and be easy to make so whilst watering my indoor jungle I had the idea to propagate some of my succulents, once they take root I will pot them into individual pots, which will then sit in some scrapwood pot covers...

Fire safety/Fire extinguishers - what to buy etc

Looking at this article https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.rhinofirecontrol.com/blog/foam-fire-extinguishers-phased-out%3fhs_amp=true it seems it's only certain types of foam at the minute

We've just had our annual fire extinguisher inspection and the engineer said that foam is being phased out due to the chemicals in it, fortunately we only have 2 so not an issue to replace.

Woodworking & craft shows and events…

I'm going to be sharing a stall with a friend that does resin stuff on June 15th at the Blackbushe air show, last weekends event at Merrist Wood was such a shambles that we packed up at 4pm on the Saturday and didn't bother going back on Sunday, Blackbushe have already sold over 4.5K entry...

I filled it with it's own dust and CA to stabilize it as it does go right through, the recipient is happy with it so once it's had a week in my living room tomake sure it isn't going to move noticeably I'll get it packed up and handed over.

    Lets see your wood

A lovely box from a fellow UKworkshoper arrived yesterday, got round to opening it today and there are 3 lovely boards, Cherry, Walnut and Oak, thinking of using the Walnut and Oak to make a box for a friend and possibly use the cherry to make a bowl blank unless anyone has any better suggestions

Out to finish the wedding goblet today and apart from getting dangerously close to ruining it, the cup wall is very very thin at the bottom, it came out pretty well considering I only used a bowl gouge and tiny skew from a hand carving set. Only thing I hate is the vertical crack in the stem.

    Yandles offers on abrsive discs

What's the Difference Between Sandpaper Grit and Sandpaper Grade? Grit refers to the specific size of the abrasive grain (40, 80, 120 etc.), whereas grade is a broader term that covers a range of grits. For example, medium grade can include grit sizes between 80 and 100.

So am I, I noticed an internal crack that runs vertically through the centre which means the stem will have to be thicker than I would like, if itnhold together I may keep it as a display piece and make another one, which won't be so bad as this one is a big bigger than I had planned, it's more...

I dare say a trip to any woodland would result in finding something suitable 😊 the wood just needs to have been left for long enough, there's a guy I follow on Instagram that does the same with very old fence posts, think he's in USA somewhere or maybe Australia, the wood is a red colour and...

I belive it's Sequoia, it has amazing colour but it's insanely dry and dusty so getting a clean cut requires a razor sharp tool edge, sands very easily too.
